The Stone Analogy (2023) took four of the most commonly found and archived English traditional folk songs and turned them into a set of screenprints. The narrative of each song is expressed in the format of a traditional pack of cards. The project aims to explain the idea of fluidity and change within folk music, in order to preserve this culture it must evolve, it must be adopted by every new generation, that is the exact beauty of it.
To the left is an etching based on the ballad of Tamlyn.
The pictures below show the journey from sketchbook to print.
