“Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood” (Isaiah, 20:45)
This is a set of seven idols. By the seventh day, God had created everything, so he let himself rest. Seven is the number of completion and the number of heaven. Man is five, the devil is six, God is seven. Seven is a sacred number. The first man and the first woman ate from The Tree of Wisdom and became unholy.
The seven idols are painted on wooden slabs. The wood acts as a connection between them, and us, and nature. They are objects first, and images second. They are tactile and they take up space, as would a crucifix or a Staffordshire flatback.
